While the
government is making every effort to invest in jobs for citizens, expatriates
from all over the world are welcomed to Dubai to take part in the new digital
economy. A tax-free salary with quick career progression for candidates with
the right qualifications and experience are the norm in Dubai. Employment
opportunities are available in the private, semi-government and government
sector. You will also need to be familiar with the UAE labour laws and your
rights as an employee.
In November 2006,
the UAE Federal Government passed the UAE Disability Act (Federal Law
No.29/2006) to protect the rights of people with disabilities and special
needs. This law stipulates that UAE nationals with special needs have the same
right to work and occupy public positions. Towards fulfilling these rights, the
Community and Development Authority in Dubai has introduced the El Kayt (Arabic
for 'lifeboat') programme for the employment of people with disabilities,
by empowering and integrating with jobs in leading institutions in the public
and private sectors.
GETTING A
GOVERNMENT JOB
Dubai Government actively encourages nationals and skilled expatriates to work
in the government sector. Its centralized online job portal lists vacancies for
all government departments, so that you can apply online. The National Human
Resource Development and Employment Authority (TANMIA) and the Emirates
Nationals Development Programme (ENDP) focus on Emiratization policies for nationals in both the
government and the private sector.
