DCAA was established by a decree by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on proclamation of law no. 21 of 2007. It was known before as Dubai Civil Aviation (DCA), which was established on March 18, 1971.

Who is the head of DCAA?
HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum is the President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority. Under him is the Director General HE Mohammed Abdullah Ahli. 

What is the difference between Dubai International and Maktoum International Airport?
Dubai International Airport has served Dubai well in its meteoric aviation growth. To cope with the increased demand, DCAA has commissioned the construction of the world’s largest airport at Jebel Ali. Formerly called Jebel Ali Airport and Dubai World Central, the airport’s new name is Maktoum International Airport. To be ready by 2012, it will have the capacity to handle 120 million passengers a year.
