If you
do not have a car, you can move around in Dubai by Dubai metro, taxi, bus or by
marine transport.
The
RTA's Wojhati (my destination) service allows
commuters a complete journey plan as it estimates how far a passenger must walk
to get the first public transport and which route a commuter must take to reach
a destination. You can also book a taxi online or the Red Line of the Dubai
Metro which starts from Al Rashidiya and goes up to Jebel Ali. Click here for answers to FAQs about the Metro.
Bus
Service
Bus services are
operated on many routes linking various residential and the industrial areas
with the two central business districts. The over 1200 buses are equipped with
point to point
timetables that provide the waiting passengers with time schedules
of the bus services passing through specific bus stops. There are also some Inter-Emirate buses for travel to other UAE cities.
Passengers can also obtain bus timetables, fares and connecting services either
from bus stops or by calling the toll free phone 800 9090. The RTA has
introduced air-conditioned bus stops to ease commuters' lives.
Taxis
Another way of
getting around Dubai is by taxi. To reserve a taxi, call Dubai Taxi on (+971 4)
2080808. If you call a taxi instead of waiting for one in the street, there is
an extra charge.
