If you are involved in an accident or any other kind of emergency during your stay in Dubai, there are various services that can help you.
Dubai has an active Police force, an excellent network of public and private hospitals and clinics, and a well-equipped fire department.
If you are involved in a minor road accident in which nobody is seriously injured, Dubai Police advise you to move involved vehicles off the roads so as not to obstruct traffic. If possible, you should wait for the police to arrive a minimum distance of 15 metres away from your car, as there have been some unfortunate accidents where people waiting in cars on the side of main roads have been injured by further accidents.
If you or anybody involved in the accident sustains injuries, it is best to leave all vehicles exactly where they are, and wait for an ambulance to arrive.
Dubai’s hospitals can handle any medical emergency; it is sensible to ensure you have adequate travel insurance that covers you for healthcare. If you have a medical condition that requires ongoing treatment, be sure to bring enough medication with you to last you for your entire stay in Dubai. However, you are advised to bring a medical certificate with you sanctioning the use of such medications, since certain substances are banned.
