Dubai has invested state-of-the-art technology to ease your life even in the mundane area of paying your utility bills, which can be done electronically, saving you the headache of physically travelling and joining a queue. Electronic payments can be done online through Dubai Smart Government services like ePay for services like traffic & parking fines, mParking for parking fees, water and electricity bills and Salik card recharge. Online payment facilities are also offered by private banks. This is in addition to the offline provisions made by the utility/service providers. iPhone users can download the mPay app to pay DEWA bills conveniently.
Paying your utility bills
In an effort to increase convenience in bill settlements, the Dubai Electricity & Water Authority, DEWA has made provision for its customers to pay their bills in various modes. Other utilities like telephone and cable have a variety of bill payment options offered by the main telecom providers like Etisalat and Du.
In October 2010, Etisalat introduced its environmentally friendly eBill system which allows individual customers to receive and pay their bills online, thereby saving on paper wastage and reducing the carbon footprint. Once customers sign up to receive their bills online, they can opt to receive their bills in two ways: Detailed bill that includes call details, dates and outstanding bill amount or summarized bill with the outstanding bill amount. The eBill also allows customers to combine multiple bills of more than one service into a single bill, for example, mobile postpaid service and eLife service charges received in a single bill.
Etisalat’s customers who choose the eBill payment method and want to participate in the initiative to save paper, can request activation of the service by simply calling 101 or by visiting any Etisalat outlet.
