Excellence Awards in Dubai

Our journey of development has been and will remain a race for excellence; a race to consolidate Dubai's position as an evolving, leading and unrivalled contender for the title of the Middle East’s financial and commercial capital.

“I want UAE Government services to be delivered to the public through mobile phones”
HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum
m-Government Service Award
The Best m-Government Service Award was launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed in May 2013 and aims to stimulate the delivery of government services to the public through smartphones round the clock. It has five categories including federal, local, Arab, international and a special award of AED one million for a UAE university.
Annual submissions for the awards are to be made through the website usually at the end of the year. Please check the website regularly for exact submission dates and eligibility criteria.

To encourage and stimulate excellence in business and customer satisfaction, Dubai Government and its leadership has instituted a number of excellence awards for both the government and private sector. Here are some of the key and most significant awards instituted for excellence in Dubai.

Dubai Government Excellence Programme
The Dubai Government Excellence Programme (DGEP) was established to improve the performance of Dubai's government sector. The Dubai Government Excellence Programme Award recognises and rewards exceptional government employees, departments and initiatives. Government departments nominate a division, team, initiative, project or employee for each category of the award. No individual or entity can be nominated two years in a row.

Dubai Quality Award
The
Dubai Quality Award (DQA) was introduced in 1994 by Dubai's Department of Economic Development. The DQA was introduced as a means of improving the standards of businesses operating in Dubai, thus boosting external and internal trade and is awarded to those companies that have demonstrated a commitment to best practices in their respective fields.

Companies that wish to apply for the award must submit material that showcases their commitment to quality in all areas of their business. Dubai Quality Award assessors review each submission according to the Dubai Quality Award Model. After all entries have been reviewed, the assessors draw up a short list. The short listed companies are visited by the assessors, who then put forward their recommendations for the award winners to the Supreme Committee of the Award, which consists of high-ranking government officials, prominent local business people, and other experts.

Dubai Service Excellence Scheme
As part of an on-going effort to raise customer service standards, the Department of Economic Development initiated the Dubai Service Excellence Scheme (DSES) in 2002. The DSES is designed to gain customer’s confidence and to make the experience of “Shopping in Dubai” a pleasurable one. This scheme binds all participating businesses to a common code of business ethics and core criteria for customer service excellence.

Emirates Quality Mark
The Emirates Authority for Standardization & Metrology (
ESMA) is the authorized body in the UAE to grant the Emirates Quality Mark (EQM). The EQM was issued to ensure the products comply with the approved standards for local and export markets. Therefore a certificate granted by ESMA on a certain product shows it has been assessed, it meets the relevant standards and has an efficient system in quality management.

Dubai Human Development Award
The Dubai Human Development Award was launched in 2002 by the Department of Economic Development to recognize and reward the HR initiatives undertaken by individual business organizations towards achieving the Dubai Human Development goal. The goal does not merely involve providing work opportunities for UAE nationals, but aims to develop their abilities and emphasize their role in the future of the UAE through intensive training and guidance. Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Awards
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Business Awards (MRM Business Award) was launched by Dubai Chamber in 2005 to recognise and reward firms that contribute to the UAE's economic development. Participation is open to all firms that are registered with their respective Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the UAE.
