Religious Affairs and Services
The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) is responsible for drawing up the general policy for Islamic affairs and charitable work in Dubai. It provides all services related to Islamic and charitable activities in Dubai.
IACAD works on spreading the Islamic knowledge and raising the Islamic religious awareness. The department supervises the religious recordings, prints, and distribution, in addition to authorization of curricula, preparation of the Hijri calendar. The Department is also responsible for issuing licenses for charitable societies, Islamic institutions and centers for memorizing the Holy Quran, in addition to issuing licenses for Islamic research and studies centers.
IACAD also supervises and licenses mosques built at private expense, Islamic celebrations, seminars, conferences, exhibitions and religious competitions. It organizes Hajj and Umrah affairs in coordination with the concerned authorities in the UAE. In addition, it oversees Fatwa affairs, raises awareness about the obligation of Zakat, regulates donations and charitable contributions, and ensures they are spent in their prescribed channels.
