Key Services for an Accessible Journey
Hearing Loops
Located at more than 520 touchpoints, including check-in counters, immigration, and boarding gates, hearing loops enhance sound clarity for passengers with hearing impairments. Passengers using hearing aids or cochlear implants can connect automatically by activating the telecoil (T-coil) setting.
Assisted Travel Lounge
Located in the departures area of Terminal 2 at DXB, this dedicated lounge is designed to support People of Determination and passengers with hidden disabilities. It features wheelchair-accessible areas, noise-reducing seating, a decompression zone for passengers with autism, calming lighting, tactile elements, and a dedicated space for unaccompanied minors.
Travel Planner
A visual guide designed to support passengers with hidden disabilities, the Travel Planner helps passengers plan ahead by outlining each stage of the airport journey. It provides clear guidance on procedures, expectations, and available facilities.
Sunflower Lanyard
Part of the global Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program, this lanyard discreetly signals that a passenger may need extra time or support. Wearing it helps airport teams identify and respond appropriately to individual needs during the journey, including access to family and priority lanes where available.
Passengers can collect their Sunflower Lanyard at DXB and DWC from Guest Experience Ambassadors or dedicated counters.
DPNA Code
The IATA code DPNA (Disabled Passenger with Intellectual or Developmental Disability Needing Assistance) can be used when booking a flight to inform service providers that a passenger requires assistance.
Smooth Screening Experience
Dubai Police provides a range of services to ensure a smooth and efficient screening experience. Dedicated lanes are clearly marked, and metal detectors are configured to accommodate wheelchair users.
Hidden Disabilities Route
This autism-friendly route at DXB and DWC features dedicated lanes for check-in, passport control, and security. The route is clearly marked with sunflower symbols and is supported by trained Ambassadors who wear sunflower pins to signal they can offer assistance. At security, Dubai Police teams are equipped and trained to support passengers with physical, hearing, visual and cognitive impairments. Private rooms are available for the inspection of prosthetic limbs, and passengers are encouraged to carry relevant medical documentation to support the process.
Buggy Service
A 24/7 shuttle service is available to support, offering priority access and helping People of Determination move easily across terminals and concourses to reach their gates.
Wheelchair Services
Wheelchair assistance is provided free of charge across the terminals. Arriving passengers can identify themselves at the arrival gate if assistance has been pre-booked.dnata teams are trained and certified to provide assistance using appropriate equipment, including wheelchairs, leg supports, infant belts, and buggy services. Personal wheelchairs can be checked in and tagged, with a dnata wheelchair provided for use within the airport.
Parking
Designated parking spaces are available, along with dedicated drop-off areas close to terminal entrances.
