Part-Time Employment
Employees in the private sector are allowed to work for another employer in addition to their primary employer under a part-time work permit. According to Federal Decree-Law No. (33) of 2021 Regarding the Regulation of Employment Relationship, the part-time work permit is one of several types of work permits available in the UAE, issued based on the demand of the labor market. A part-time work permit, issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), allows individuals to work fewer hours or fewer days than a standard full-time role, and it also enables them to be employed by more than one employer at the same time.
To be eligible, the applicant must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid UAE residence visa, and meet any profession-specific licensing or qualification requirements related to their field. All skill levels and professions are eligible to apply for this type of permit, in accordance with the applicable terms and regulations. The application for the permit must be submitted by the part-time employer through MoHRE’s official channels.
